Arts Facilities

Excellence in the arts has long been a point of pride for the Pace Academy community, and our extraordinary visual and performing artists enjoy state-of-the-art facilities in which to explore and perfect their crafts. Our arts spaces allow our sculptors, photographers, painters, performers and musicians of all ages to THINK BIG.

Fine Arts Center

Constructed in 1990, our Fine Arts Center houses Upper School visual art studios for painting, drawing, ceramics and sculpture, as well as a traditional darkroom and a computer lab for digital photography, graphic design and yearbook. Our Middle and Upper School choruses and bands rehearse in the building as well, and Middle School drama classes have been known to spread out around campus from their first-floor classroom.

We love inviting the guests of students in all divisions to concerts and productions in our theatre. The 600-seat Zalik Theater includes an orchestra pit and a fly system, hosts performances and events throughout the year and serves as a gathering space during Upper School assemblies. Upper Schoolers enrolled in stagecraft create magical sets for our many productions in a workshop adjacent to the theatre. The Fine Arts Center also includes exhibit and event space to showcase and celebrate student work.

Lower School Arts

It’s impossible to miss our Lower School students’ artistic talents—their work is on display everywhere you look! All Lower Schoolers participate in visual art classes, which take place in our studio, a hub for creativity, self-expression and color. Because our Lower School music program emphasizes students’ total involvement, our music room provides plenty of space for singing, movement and instrument playing.

Middle School Arts

Expansion of our Middle School arts program in 2014 demanded additional visual arts space. Housed in our Inman Center, adjacent to the Middle School, students paint, draw, sculpt and design in a Middle School art suite, complete with two large classrooms, gallery space, a supply room and a kiln. The studios sit adjacent to our Middle School Design Lab to maximize opportunities for STEAM collaboration.

Strings

Our Middle and Upper School strings ensembles rehearse high atop the Garcia Family Middle School in a fifth-floor studio. Lower School strings students split their time between classroom space in the Lower School and the Middle School’s Knights Hall.
