Day 2-Swimming Prelims
The first day of swimming went extremely well! Five of six relays will come back in finals tomorrow and Charlie and Erin will return in both of their individual events!
The medley relays set the tone for the day as both relays were just under four seconds faster than their previous best! Charlie, John, Jason, and Dillon and Lizzy, Erin, Amalie, and Meghan raced their way back tomorrow. Erin had her fastest time in the 200 IM to finish 7th. In the 50 free, Jason, Amalie, and Meghan had great swims in their first individual appearances in the state meet. Jason followed with his second fastest 100 fly.
Charlie broke his school record in the 100 free with an All-American Consideration time of 45.06 for second. Amalie was also in the 100 and had her fastest time as well! Next came the 200 Free Relays-the boys lead off with Charlie breaking Scott Gardner’s record set in 2001 with a time of 20.67 and another All-American Consideration time! Jason, Dillon, and John helped that relay to return as well. On the girls side, Erin lead off with her first time under 25 seconds followed by Amalie, Lizzy, and Meghan, for a new school record formerly set by Madison Graham, Grace Ferry, Anna Van Zyverden, and Olivia Baker!
In the backstroke, Charlie lead the boys with a top place and a new record of 50.22 that is also an All-American Consideration time! Lizzy swam her first individual swimming event in the backstroke and did really well.
In our last individual event, Erin turned in her fastest in the breaststroke with a time of 1:06.78 for 8th!
The boys 400 Free Relay team of Dillon, John, Carter, and Cole, all had their fastest times of their career. The girls team of Meghan, Luisa, Sophia, and Isabel made it back to finals as well!
Congratulations to the Knights, tomorrow’s finals begin at 11:00 at Georgia Tech!
