Technology How-Tos

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

- Arthur C. Clarke

While an often echoed sentiment, the goal of this page is to make that seem a little less true. Below you'll find a collection of links designed to take you to pages with the answers to some of our most commonly seen problems here at Pace. All of our answers are grouped by subject, but as this is the type of page that is a constant work in progress, please bear with us as we work to add and update. Also, please be cognizant of the fact that not every problem experienced at the school is going to be common enough to make it onto this page - think of this more as a rouges gallery than a panacea. Do be aware that these sites are only for informational purposes, meaning that that we do not necessarily endorse any of the goods or services featured or promoted. And of course, if you do experience a particular issue that can't be resolved here, please feel free to send us an email. Thanks.

First Time Mac Users

Fear not, we've all been there. Below is a collection of links to some very useful sites designed to help ease your transition into the light.

  • My First Mac - Here's a page devoted to making the switch over from windows, and for a quick overview check out their One Page Crash Course or for slightly more advanced users take a peek at the keyboard shortcut conversions.
  • ScreenCasts Online - A mixture of video tutorials for the Mac, iPhone and iPod. Sadly, not all are free, however many are. Worth a look through.
  • Macworld - The online version of the magazine, filled with all things apple.
  • Easy Leopard - A quick overview designed to demystify the newest Mac operating system.
