Welcome to the Booster Club!
The 2019–2020 school year was obviously different than any we have seen before. The Pace Academy Knights had great success on the athletic fields during fall and winter, but disappointingly, much of the spring sports season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, in the fall and winter, every varsity team qualified for the state playoffs. You read that correctly—every single team made it to the state playoffs during the seasons we were able to compete.
Pace Knights claimed four region championships and multiple individual state titles. The competition cheer squad won the region in its inaugural season. In addition, the boys cross-country, boys basketball and girls volleyball teams won the region, with volleyball and basketball taking their respective state titles as well. The varsity volleyball team has now won the state championship three years in a row, cementing a tradition of excellence. A total of 13 students from the Class of 2020 representing 10 sports will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
With more than 550 Middle and Upper School students participating on at least one athletic team, the Pace community, with Booster Club support, truly promotes the development of student-athletes who strive for excellence both in the classroom and on the field. The Booster Club serves to enhance the experience of all Pace student-athletes, whether they compete at the club, Middle School, junior varsity or varsity level; to promote healthy habits throughout the entire student body; and to bolster school spirit within the Pace community.
During the 2019-2020 school year, the Booster Club added a track and field record board at the Riverview Sports Complex, upgraded audio-visual equipment in the weight room, supported equipment purchases for the Lower School and club teams, added sideline shelters to provide shade for the players at Walsh Field and added many amenities to the sports medicine room (most exciting for the student-athletes is the new cold tub, with a close second being the brand new ice machine). We also look forward to the completion of the Collegiate Athletes Wall of Fame to be located in the Inman Center.
While all of these financial contributions are meaningful to our sports teams, we are most proud of the Booster Club’s support of school spirit. This past year, fans received rally towels and pom-poms; fan buses traveled near and far; plus the Booster Club purchased student tickets to playoff games—all in the name of driving school spirit and supporting fans in the stands. Did we mention that every fall and winter team made it to the state playoffs last year?
This is only possible with the support of our Pace families. We encourage you to join the Booster Club to continue supporting projects that enhance our student-athletes’ experiences!
Please consider becoming involved: work the concession stand at a basketball game, volunteer at the Pace Race or serve as a team parent. You will be rewarded by the undeniable enthusiasm and spirit of the Pace students.
On behalf of the Booster Club, welcome to another year of athletic excellence at Pace Academy. We sincerely appreciate your financial and volunteer support and look forward to seeing you in the bleachers, in the stands, on the ball field, on the deck and everywhere else we watch the Knights compete!
