Boys Basketball Hands McDonough First Region Loss

The varsity boys basketball team was at home this past Saturday, Jan. 28, versus region foe—and No. 1 seed—McDonough High School. Senior forward Kendall Evans got the Knights off to a great shooting start with a few early three-pointers, and junior guard KJ Greene added several more big shots for the Knights to give Pace a commanding 33-20 lead in the second quarter. Sophomore guard Eric Chatfield played big on defense for the Knights, converting defense into transition offense. Pace went into the half leading 38-20. In the third quarter, the Knights looked to duplicate their first-half success, but McDonough made a run that cut the Pace’s lead to 9. The Knights held onto to an 11-point lead heading into the fourth, but it soon dwindled to 6. Senior guard Davis Rice hit two key shots to put the Knights back up by 10;  sophomore forward Chandler Bing followed with a layup to seal the victory. Final score: Pace 59, McDonough 50.
