On Saturday, Aug. 29, the varsity boys and girls cross-country teams competed in a track time trial against Holy Innocents’, Osborne, Weber and St. Francis. In the first heat, senior Laura Arenth placed second overall with a time of 12:20; senior Hannah Vincent placed fourth with a time of 12:28; and sophomore Kate Jonas placed fifth with a time of 12:41.  

In the second heat, junior Edward Blaha ran a track personal record of 9:33, placing first; junior George Blaha also set a personal record in 9:47, placing third; junior Robert Mallis placed fourth with a time of 10:01; senior Robert Houser placed fifth with a time of 10:16; junior Grant Thompson placed sixth with a time of 10:16; and senior Sam Webb placed eighth with a personal record of 10:41.  

In the third heat, senior Sean Glennon was first with a time of 11:14; freshmen Matthew Wells and Jackson Hurd made a statement, finishing second and third with times of 11:14 and 11:22, respectively. Junior Kargil Behl placed fourth with a time of 11:29; junior Samuel Alkire placed fifth with a time of 11:34; senior Jonny Sundermeier placed seventh with a time of 11:48; and senior Alexander Swann placed 10th with a time of 12:06.  


The Knights swept places one through five in the final heat. Freshman Wells Howe, junior Austin Culpepper, freshman Ellie Arenth, junior Margo Kaye and junior Catherine Crawford had times ranging from 13:58-15:17. This was a great showing for the Knights on an early Saturday morning and a stepping stone for what lies ahead. The team is off this weekend and will race on the state course in Carrollton, Ga., on Saturday, Sept 12.
