Hood Grabs 1st, E. Blaha Knabs 4th at Carrollton Orthopaedic Invitational

The varsity cross-country team traveled to the Carrollton Orthopaedic Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 11, to compete in the championship division 5K. The top seven girls—sophomore Caroline Hood, senior Laura Arenth, senior Kate Jonas, freshman Olivia Resnick, junior Elizabeth Feagin, senior Nikki Byrne and junior Kate Webb—ran well on the rugged and hilly course. Hood grabbed first place, finishing at 19:03.03, and Arenth finished 12th overall at 19:55.07.

The top 7 boys—senior Edward Blaha, senior Robert Mallis, senior Kargil Behl, senior Sam Howe, sophomore Matthew Wells, senior Jason Tapper and sophomore Brody Matthias—were also pleased with their results. Blaha earned fourth place overall at 16:13.72. The cross-country team has had a strong start to its season despite some minor injuries among some of the teams’ strongest runners. The girls and boys will participate in the Wingfoot Classic on Sept. 24.
