Water Polo B-Team Upsets Top Seed in Semifinal, Grabs Championship Title

For the first time in Pace water polo history, the B team played for and won the league championship. “The Knights worked hard all season and learned to rely on each other, and that is what allowed them to be a part of the championship match,” says Coach John Ague. “The seven players in the water coupled with the strength of the six on the bench gave us a distinct advantage in the pool.”

In the final two games, the team eliminated both the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds to earn the championship. Seventh-grader Pablo De Cock had a great tournament in goal and turned away 10 shots in the final alone. Eighth-grader Will Grabowski started the scoring as the Knights took an early lead and added another goal later and an assist. Eighth-grader MJ Madison scored five goals and had one assist. Eighth-grader Mack Bybee also had a goal and an assist, while eighth-grader Eddie Langford had his two best games of the season, scoring one goal and adding one assist. Seventh-grader Seb Langford also scored one goal; eighth-grader Ryan McMurtry had one assist; and De Cock tallied two assists.

Congratulations to the members of the B Team on their first water polo championship! Go, Knights!
