Our co-ed water polo team opened its season with a huge win over Lakeside this past Saturday, Aug. 29. The teams were even through the first period as they worked to find their groove.
In the second period, however, the Knights opened things up, outscoring Lakeside 5-0 and taking a 7-2 lead into halftime. In the third period, the Knights sent five more goals into the net while giving up just two, and the teams rounded out the final period with one goal each. Junior captain Cameron Saini had a strong performance in goal turning away nine shots.
On the attacking end of things, sophomores Aidan Carroll and Chris Mason and freshman Avi Narula had three goals each; sophomore Carter Freudenstein had two; and sophomore Barrett Hight and freshman Lane Canova each had one. Freudenstein and Narula added two assists each, while Lane and Cameron had one each.
The Knights were bolstered by great defensive play from Hight, Freudenstein, Carroll, Canova and sophomore Corey Lochan, as well as outstanding offense by freshmen Jackson Allegra, Hayden Harris, Aarav Kokane, Asher Lubin and Walker Smith, who exhibited terrific passing and took advantage of their opportunities. Well done, everyone!
