STATE CHAMPS!

On Friday, Nov. 5, the girls and boys cross-country teams took charge at the GHSA State Cross-Country Championships and won the AA titles. Senior Edward Blaha defended his 2020 state title, with the rest of the Knights close behind at the top of the ranks. E. Blaha, seniors George Blaha, Grant Thompson and Robert Mallis and sophomore Matthew Wells all finished in the top 10 and were named to the AA All-State Team.

For the girls, sophomore Caroline Hood and senior Laura Arenth led the pack and were named state champion and state runner-up, respectively. Among all merged classifications in the state, the boys team ranked second overall, and the girls, sixth. Hood, Arenth and seniors Kate Jonas and Jordan White finished in the top seven and received All-State recognition.

Then, on Saturday, Nov. 6, the varsity volleyball team dominated Gordon Lee High School and claimed its FIFTH consecutive state-championship title. “The team came together like a perfect storm when we faced a senior-laden Gordon Lee team,” notes head coach Anna Bush. “The same team we defeated a year earlier was bent on revenge and wanted to ‘rewrite the ending.’ Our team was not a book to be rewritten.”

Following the Knights’ victory, sophomores Dhru Lalaji and Ellie Siskin and junior Briea Craft were named to the All-State Team.

Congratulations to all three of these teams on closing their outstanding seasons with state victories!
