Throughout the pandemic, Pace’s Isdell Center for Global Leadership (ICGL) has supported our community engagement partners as they adapt to the crisis. As we prepare to return to school, here’s how you can help others in the Atlanta community:

Agape Backpack Giveaway: Join freshman Adger Allen in supporting the Agape Youth and Family Center’s Great Backpack Giveaway. Each year, Agape collects and distributes new backpacks filled with school supplies to more than 2,400 under-served students. Due to COVID-19, Apage has had to redesign the sorting and distribution components of the drive, and Allen is serving as project manager for the July 31 event, ensuring that social distancing and safety guidelines are observed.

Agape’s biggest need is for 300 large, high-quality backpacks (like this one, with padded shoulder straps) for high-school students. Purchase a backpack and ship or deliver it to the Allen home (3068 Rhodenhaven Dr. NW 30327) by Sunday, July 26.

Purpose Built Schools Supply Drive: To kick off year two of the ICGL’s partnership with Purpose Built Schools Atlanta, Pace is excited to support Slater Elementary School with a back-to-school drive. The school’s students, grades kindergarten through five, will start the school year at home and are in need of resources they would typically share during in-class instruction.

As you shop for school supplies, please considering picking up a few extra items to donate, such as composition notebooks, handwriting paper, index cards, notebook paper, multi-colored copy paper, folders, pencil packs, pink erasers, highlighters, crayons, glue sticks, dry erase markers and student scissors. Look for donation bins across campus during the first week of school.
