Middle School Robotics Advances to State

On Jan. 17, several sixth-grade students flexed their STEAM muscles by competing in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Clarkston Super-Regional Robotics Tournament. After advancing from the Chamblee Regional Robotics Tournament, the Ground Breakers retooled and re-coded their robots. Guided by Middle School STEAM teacher Katie Sandlin, the team entered the super-regional tournament as strong contenders, bringing a mix of curiosity, collaboration and perseverance. Students worked as a cohesive team, making calculated strategic shifts during the competition to improve their chances of success. The Ground Breakers took home both the Grand Champion Award and the FLL Innovation/Project Award. They now advance to the state championship, which will take place in February at Georgia Tech.
