Minimesters Maximize Curriculum

From Tuesday, Jan. 4, to Wednesday, Jan. 11, Upper School history and science teachers put their syllabuses on hold to lead students into deep dives of unique topics during the annual Minimester Week. For a decade, Upper School students have returned from winter break and kicked off the second semester with a science “minimester,” a series of short, intensive courses that allow students to delve deeper into a subject matter. Last year, the history department joined the party, offering minimester courses examining African, African Diaspora and African American history. This January, both departments presented a week’s worth of engaging extracurricular content from Swamp Ecology, Fantasy Sports Statistics and How to Build a Computer to The Magnificence of Mughal India, Views of Race and Gender in 1970s and 80s American Television and US LGBTQ+ History.
