Support the Pulsera Project

As part of Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month, Lower School students are participating in the Pulsera Project for the ninth year. The nonprofit empowers young Nicaraguan artisans through the sale of colorful hand-woven bags and bracelets, or pulseras. All proceeds are reinvested in different programs in Nicaragua, including scholarships, micro-loans, children’s shelters, environmental initiatives, workers’ rights advocacy and other educational programs.

Fifth-grade students will sell pulseras ($7 each) and bags ($15 each) in the Lower School cafeteria and on the playground from 7:30 to 8 a.m. The schedule for purchasing is as follows:

Schedule for purchasing pulseras:

Monday, Oct. 3: Fourth and fifth grades only
Tuesday, Oct. 4: Second and third grades only
Thursday, Oct. 6: First grade only
Friday, Oct. 7: Pre-First only
Oct. 12, 13, 17 & 18: All Lower, Middle and Upper School students

Please pay with cash or a check made payable to Pace Academy.

In conjunction with the sale, Lower School Spanish students are participating in activities that draw directly from the experiences of people in Nicaragua and Guatemala. Videos and autobiographies from artisans in the project will further connect them with the individuals they are empowering.
