Lower School Study Tours
June 11-18, 2018
Service & Conservation Focus
Open to current fifth-grade students
The Isdell Center for Global Leadership’s 2017 trip to Costa Rica led students to make comments like, “I now know to not only celebrate my victories; I know to celebrate other people’s victories as well.”
Pace is once again partnering with World Leadership School, an organization that works with K-12 schools to create developmentally appropriate educational experiences, with the right balance of nurture, challenge and adventure. Much like Pace, World Leadership School aims to help children become young leaders and global citizens with a passion to make the world a better place.
While on the ground in Costa Rica, students will live in a family owned eco-lodge in the Chilamate region. This home base enables students to be fully immersed in the local language and culture, while also being settled together in one place for the duration of the trip.
Pace students will engage in a service-learning project with students at a local school, not simply assisting the community with various needs, but also getting to know students their own age who are from very different cultural backgrounds. In the afternoons, Pace students will explore the rich biodiversity in the surrounding rainforest, take ethnobotany classes, go hiking, participate in whitewater rafting and ziplining, and have time to relax and reflect on what they are learning.
