Lower School Study Tours
June 8-15, 2020
Open to rising sixth-grade students
The 2019 ICGL study tour to Costa Rica led students to make comments like, “We are all human,” and, “I left a part of myself in Costa Rica.” For the fifth consecutive year, Pace will partner with World Leadership School, an organization that assists schools in creating developmentally appropriate educational experiences with the right balance of nurture, challenge and adventure. Like Pace, World Leadership School aims to help children become young leaders and global citizens who are passionate about making the world a better place.
In Costa Rica, students will stay in a family-owned eco-lodge in the Chilamate region. This home base will enable full immersion in the local language and culture, while allowing students and faculty time for group reflection and growth. Pace students will engage in a service-learning project with students at a local school—assisting with various community needs, but more importantly, building relationships with peers from very different cultural backgrounds. In the afternoons, Pace students will explore the rich biodiversity in the surrounding rainforest, take ethno-botany classes, hike, participate in white-water rafting and zip-lining, and have time to relax and reflect on what they are learning.
Approximate cost: $3,250 ($2,500 without flight)
