A great way to jump start 6th grade!
For many students the first weeks of Middle School are as exciting as going to a theme park. They enter a whole new world filled with opportunities and independence. A successful adventure into this new world requires personal management and organization. Setting up systems and learning how to navigate multiple classes, teachers, and schedules can be quite a challenge. Camp Kick Start provides the “behind the scenes tour” to help students prepare for their adventure.
Students will be guided through setting up notebooks and developing routines. All activities will be focused on boosting campers personal tool kits to assist with the transition to middle school. Emphasis will be placed on communicating with teachers in verbal and written formats. Understanding teacher postings, acquiring study strategies, practicing note taking, setting up time management plans, and nurturing personal organization will all be presented and incorporated into daily activities throughout Camp Kick Start. This small group setting is a great opportunity for students to ease into the world of Middle School while becoming comfortable with the many opportunities and supports available to each student. Campers will be encouraged to stop by the Academic Resource Center to showcase or refuel their new skills throughout the year.
Campers should bring their binders and dividers to the first day of camp.
