Specialty Camps

Our specialty camp 2020 program offerings can be seen below. Camp registration will open at 1pm on Monday, January 20th. We take pride in offering an assortment of summer programs to fit the interests of all students. The majority of our summer programs are available to students of all schools, not exclusively Pace Academy students, unless otherwise specified in a program's description. We strive for excellence in offering the best camper experiences in the metro Atlanta area.

Lifeguarding Certification/Re-Certification

Program Description:
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course and Re-Certification offered. Once students register for the course, they will need to register with the American Red Cross to purchase the course book, pocket mask, and first aid pouch. Students register with the American Red Cross and purchase their course materials at https://www.redcross.org/store/lifeguarding-and-learn-to-swim.

Safe Sitter Essentials Certification

Program Description:

Safe Sitter® Essentials is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The Instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students learn:

Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies.

Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering.

First Aid & Rescue Skills: Learning skills such as choking rescue is often students’ favorite part of the class. Students also learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

Life & Business Skills: The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Students practice these skills through various role plays.

Completing Safe Sitter® Essentials or Safe Sitter® Expanded meets some of the requirements of the Cadette Babysitter Badge and Cadette First Aid Badge.

All material fees are included in the cost of this program.

Calling all All-Star kids to spectacular sports-themed adventure! You and your tribe will have a ball learning the science behind the world's most popular sports while engineering an entire island of team and extreme sporting events: From soccer to sky diving; from baseball to bungee jumping; from skateboarding to snowboarding; from football to the Olympic Games.  An indoor camp with outdoor spirit, our Xtreme STEAM Sports adventure promises to score big with every boy and girl!

Adventures in STEM + Pokemon with Lego Materials

Camp Description:

Prepare for a full-day LEGO® camp packed with hands-on and minds-on STEM fun! Build projects inspired by cool machines such as chugging Steamboats, enchanting Moon Bridges, and bustling Airports. Then join Ash and Pikachu as you explore the vast world of Pokémon, design your own Poké Balls, and fly with Charizard. Engineering and Pokémon adventure is the focus of this new full-day themed camp for LEGO® fanatics!

Camp Description:

In a fun atmosphere of sportsmanship, and camaraderie, campers will study many important aspects of chess. (Tactics, strategy, psychology, time-management (and much more!)) Classes will be led by International Master (IM) Carlos Perdomo and Candidate Master (CM) Jim Mundy. Both instructors are very experienced players/coaches whose teams and students have won state, regional, and national titles. Everything the students need will be provided. Beginner to advanced levels of players welcome.

 

Wizards, Spells, and Potions

Camp Description: 

After  the spectacular success of our Challenge Island Wizardry Camp, kids begged for more.  So we have brewed up  a brand new magical  week of spellbinding adventure!  You and your tribe will  take a full load of Wizarding classes from Transfiguration to Flying Broomsticks to Charms and Potions to Magical Beasts.  The STEAMtastic camp will culminate with an enchanted graduation ceremony that your friends and family can attend. 

Shark Week Comes to Pace

Camp Description:

Sharks, one of the greatest fears but also one of the most important species in the world! Dive into a week-long exploration of the fact and fiction behind these misunderstood creatures! Understand how sharks use physics to their advantage, how their biology helps them adapt, and what you can do to keep them safe. Kids will see if they can "race" a shark!

STEM Velocity's 'Amazing Robotics'

Camp Description:

Danger Will Robinson! We will be building and programming different types of robots to do so many things. This camp will provide campers with a foundational understanding of robotics and
various related disciplines.

This camp has a particular focus on technology and programming. STEM Velocity utilizes
quality resources during multiple hands-on activities helping children acquire essential 21st
Century Skills. Campers will receive invaluable support and guidance from our team of

Fashion Design Experience

Camp Description:

Campers will spend the week experiencing the various tasks of a real fashion designer
through research, design, and sewing. Campers will first learn the techniques to discover
design inspiration. They will receive fashion drawing and illustration lessons to complete
an inspiration or mood board. All campers will learn how to use a sewing machine as
they start working towards their own unique designs.This camp includes a camp Fashion Show at the end of the week. The full day session includes swimming, off-campus field trips, and lunch.

Camp Description:

A fun-filled session for aspiring buccaneers! Learn the basics of navigation, practice your map reading skills and discover some "buried treasure". Learn about the myths and realities of being a buccaneer! Kids will discover some underwater treasure! 

Up, Up, and Away!: Exploring Aerospace Engineering

Camp Description:

Discover the exciting world of aerospace engineering! Design parachutes, launch water bottle rockets, and learn about Newton and his laws of motion. Fizz, Bubble, Pop!: Exploring Chemistry

Camp Description:

Discover the exciting world of chemistry and chemical engineering! Experiment with acids and bases and learn how to make a pH indicator out of household ingredients. Make invisible ink, create bubbles, and explore the amazing properties of polymers. Learn how to identify chemicals and use the power of science to investigate a crime scene and find the culprit. If you like things that fizz and mixing up colorful concoctions, this class is for you!

Kid's TV

Dates: July 6th - July 10th

Camp Description:

During the Kids TV Film Camp, students will work in teams to learn camera basics, lighting, producing, and project management. The campers will rotate through various crew positions as they produce their own video project (i.e. music video, movie, etc.). Parents and guests are invited to a movie premiere at the end of camp. 

Campers will need to bring their own lunch to camp.

Sew Much Fun!

Camp Description:

Campers spend the week learning to sew items such as: pillows, fabric basket for the
bedroom, stuffed animals, doll clothes and capes for play, pajama shorts or t-shirts to
wear. This is a fun camp for both girls and boys to learn about sewing and making items
out of fabric on a sewing machine. Our youngest campers ages 5-6 will be grouped and
do hand sewing activities only while age 7 and above will learn on a sewing machine.

STEAM Tank Entrepreneurs

Camp Description:

Calling all innovative and inventive kids to an adventure in STEAM and entrepreneurship!  You and your tribe will design, create and open new businesses and associated product lines every day: From pet shops to restaurants to fashion and sporting good stores; from ice cream parlors to toy stores to pop-up holiday shops.  Can you convince the city planners that your tribe's business belongs in the new Challenge Island Mall?  Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind entrepreneurial experience.

Drobots: Junior Minecraft Adventures

Camp Description:

Experience the wonderful world of Minecraft. Construct your own virtual world in a sandbox-
like environment to challenge your mind and create your own adventures. In this exciting camp for younger learners, students will learn how to create their own mods for Minecraft 1.12.2, including a Battle Axe that launches explosive fireballs. Students will learn the beginner-level Java coding foundations such as Booleans and conditionals. This engaging camp will spark interests, foster creativity and help you maximize your learning potential. No prior experience with Minecraft necessary. Absolute beginners welcome!

Drobots: Ultimate Drone Obstacle Challenge

Camp Description:

This action-packed program is specifically designed for both the novice and experienced
drone enthusiasts. Full of excitement, teamwork, learning, and fun, campers enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports, Drone Obstacle Course Racing. Throughout the week, campers learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. As the week progresses, campers will advance through various skill challenges, learning how to perform assorted exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Campers will use iPads and remote controls to pitch, yaw and roll their drones through some of Drobots’ most daring obstacle courses. Participants will utilize their creative minds to help design the obstacle layout and then build the obstacle course in preparation for the camp’s final activity and competition.

Make A Spark: Exploring Electrical Engineering

How Things Work: Exploring Mechanical Engineering

Discover the exciting world of mechanical engineering! Design roller coasters, build catapults, and experiment with sound waves. Explore gravity, buoyancy, energy, work, and friction. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)

Camp Description:

What really happened? Was there a crime, or was it an accident? How do CSI investigators present information or evidence to explain a crime? Every week you see these questions and see how they solve them on a variety of forensic crime television programs. Well, now you can be the "Special Investigator" searching the "crime scene" and "processing" the "evidence".
