Blythe O’Brien Hogan ’03 graduated from the University of Georgia with bachelor’s degrees in art history and Spanish. She then earned her master’s in art business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, with the subject of her master’s dissertation centering on fine art and collection insurance and risk management.
Blythe is a licensed personal lines insurance broker at Aon Private Risk Management (APRM), serving as director of the Fine Art Practice, a specialist team within APRM. Her expertise is in the broking and risk management of valuable article collections for private clients. In addition to managing full personal insurance programs, Blythe leads her team in negotiating bespoke collections coverage and providing risk advisement for collector clients.
Blythe, who has been with Aon for almost 10 years, was hired as a risk management specialist in the Fine Art Practice in New York after completing her master’s degree. She manages her own book of business, handling clients with net worths ranging from $10 million to over $1 billion, and overseeing collections valued from $1 million to $900 million and above. She also works with account managers across the country on large collector clients and collection claims.
During her time at Aon, she initiated the art team’s vendor vetting program, the criteria and process by which third-party firms in the art industry are evaluated and approved for referrals to clients and colleagues. Blythe develops evolving methodologies for assessing specifics risks to valuable items and implementing mitigation plans particular to the potential loss exposure, such as natural disasters, works in transit, works on loan and works in storage.
Blythe is married to Will Hogan (Westminster Class of 2003) and has a darling son, Henry (18 months). She has lived in London and New York and expects to be in Atlanta for the foreseeable future. She loves to cook, watch UGA football and the Braves, practice yoga and travel.
