In what grade did you join Pace?
Why did you choose Pace?
I knew that Pace was the right school for me the very first time I visited. I felt that the combination of academic rigor and extracurricular opportunities gave every student the ability to explore new things and excel in the areas of their choosing. I also appreciated Pace's focus on student well-being and the intangible qualities of an education, such as the relationships we form with other students and with teachers. It has an atmosphere of support and trust which enhances our personal growth.
What activities are you involved in at Pace?
I am involved in debate, Model UN, cross-country, lacrosse, PASS (Pace Academy Student Support), and I am a service leader for the Agape Center. I am also a Student Ambassador!
How have you grown during your time at Pace?
I have become stronger and more confident as both a student and a person. In the two years I've been here, I've been given the opportunity to travel across the country and the world. I've participated in activities and been in classes that I have long been interested in, and some that I once thought would never interest me. I have also met new types of people that have shaped me as a person.
How has Pace prepared you for college?
Academically, Pace makes a concerted effort to replicate both the conditions and rigor of college. Not only is the work itself meant to challenge us, but the way teachers assign the work is also designed to prepare us for the next step. They teach us to plan ahead and learn to manage long-term deadlines. Pace's emphasis on independence and accountability is also essential. Whether it is learning to manage our time through our use of free periods or our teachers encouraging us to advocate for ourselves whenever we have challenges or face obstacles, Pace students practice the interpersonal skills that are critical to a positive college experience.
Why should prospective students be interested in Pace?
There is truly something for everyone at Pace. The ways to participate and excel in the academics, arts, athletics, service and more are limitless. Pace combines small class sizes and a more personalized approach to education, but with an enormous diversity of interesting people and opportunities.
How would you describe your teachers?
Every teacher I have had is genuinely passionate about the subject they teach, and their enthusiasm for it is often infectious. Teachers are also invested in the success of their students, and make themselves available for extra help to encourage students to approach them when they need assistance.
How would you describe the Pace community?
The Pace community is supportive, tight-knit and involved. There is no one-size-fits-all at Pace; everyone has a different set of interests and experiences, so that everyone has a distinct perspective they bring to the table.
