IN WHAT GRADE DID YOU JOIN PACE?

Sixth grade

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE PACE?

I loved the environment that the teachers and other students created, and I immediately knew that I would love it here. It seemed like a place that encouraged students to be curious and creative in a way that was fun and interesting.

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE YOU INVOLVED IN AT PACE?

I am on the Student Board of Model UN, the varsity swim team and PASS (Pace Academy Student Support). I am also the vice president of technology for Miracle Knights, Pace's dance marathon fundraiser, and lifestyle editor of The Knightly News. In the summer, I volunteer and coach swim at Keeping Pace, and lastly, I love being a Student Ambassador!

Since the end of eighth grade, I have loved participating in Model UN. Because of the experiences that I have had at Pace, especially in the Upper School, international affairs has become a passion of mine. All of the people that I have had the opportunity to meet, as well as the places I have been lucky enough to visit, have taught me so much and have played a major role in my high school experience so far. I love being able to dig in and research a specific topic because it helps me be prepared to think on my feet when a difficult situation is thrown at me at a conference, or even in the classroom.

HOW HAVE YOU GROWN DURING YOUR TIME AT PACE?

I have learned skills that I know will help me not only throughout my time in school, but also in my professional career. Pace's emphasis on community, the "vital signs" in the Middle School, and the ICGL program prepare each student to be strong, kind and smart global citizens. The love of learning, especially research, that I have gained while at Pace makes me really excited for the future.

WHO HAS HAD THE GREATEST IMPACT ON YOU DURING YOUR TIME AT PACE?

Without a doubt, Ms. Smith. She has encouraged me to become a strong student, writer, and advocate in and outside the classroom (and Model UN committee room). I spend far too much time studying and researching in her classroom, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR TEACHERS?

The teachers at Pace go so far out of their way to create opportunities for students to succeed. They are always available for extra help or to work with a student who needs it. I have loved getting to work with all of my teachers over the past few years, and the fact that I may have the opportunity to be in different classes with them over the course of several years makes the sense of community at Pace even stronger.
